SENIOR CNC MACHINIST

POSITION SUMMARY
We are working with a Houston-area manufacturing company, and seeking a high-level, hands-on CNC Machinist to set up and operate multi-axis CNC equipment producing complex, tight-tolerance components. The ideal candidate is an experienced machinist who reads blueprints and GD&T fluently, dials in setups quickly, edits programs at the control, and consistently holds tight tolerances on demanding parts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot multi-axis CNC mills and/or lathes to machine complex precision components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to determine machining sequences, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
  • Perform tool changes, offsets, and program edits at the control to achieve and hold tight tolerances.
  • Conduct first-article and in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM data.
  • Select, set, and maintain cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding; optimize setups to reduce cycle and changeover times.
  • Partner with programming and engineering to improve methods, yields, and throughput.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area and follow all quality and safety procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to set up and run multi-axis CNC mills and/or lathes independently.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and in-process inspection.
  • Experience with either [Fanuc / Haas / Mazak / Okuma] controls.
  • High school diploma or GED; machining certificate or completed apprenticeship a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-axis machining experience and experience with exotic materials (titanium, Inconel, stainless).
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment, including first-article inspection (AS9102).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
