POSITION SUMMARY
We are working with a Houston-area manufacturing company, and seeking a high-level CNC Programmer to develop and optimize multi-axis machining programs for complex, tight-tolerance components. The ideal candidate translates 3D models and drawings into efficient, reliable tool paths, proves out programs on the floor, and continuously drives down cycle times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, post-process, and optimize CNC programs and tool paths using either [Mastercam / Esprit / NX CAM / GibbsCAM ].
- Interpret 3D models, engineering drawings, and GD&T to plan machining strategies, fixturing, and tooling.
- Program multi-axis (3–5 axis) mills and/or lathes and prove out programs at the machine with machinists.
- Create setup sheets, tool lists, and process documentation.
- Reduce cycle times and improve efficiency through program and process optimization.
- Support first-article inspection and troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and the shop floor to improve manufacturability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.
- Proficiency with CAM software ([Mastercam / Esprit / NX]) and multi-axis programming.
- Strong CAD model, blueprint, and GD&T interpretation.
- Solid understanding of tooling, materials, speeds and feeds, and machining strategies.
- Hands-on machining background sufficient to prove out and edit programs at the control.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-axis programming experience and experience with exotic materials (titanium, Inconel, stainless).
- Experience in an AS9100 / aerospace environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and lean manufacturing principles.
