About the Role
The Legal Executive Assistant (LEA) – Disputes serves as a trusted business partner to senior attorneys within a litigation/disputes practice, managing the daily operations of a complex legal practice so attorneys can focus on client work and business development. This is an executive-level support role requiring both strong administrative expertise and a solid working knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and documentation in a disputes environment. The LEA works collaboratively with Legal Administrative Assistants (LAA) and Legal Support Assistants (LSA) to ensure seamless delivery across all practice functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage attorney projects and deadlines, coordinating with legal and administrative teams to ensure all milestones are met efficiently
- Serve as a primary liaison between attorneys, clients, and internal departments — handling inquiries, relaying information, and exercising independent judgment when responding on behalf of attorneys
- Delegate tasks to LSAs and internal support teams; monitor progress and communicate updates to ensure timely, accurate delivery
- Mentor and provide ongoing professional development feedback to LSAs supporting the attorney's team
- Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, and presentations; review all work product for accuracy before delivery
- Oversee electronic and physical filing systems within the firm's document management system, ensuring all materials are organized and current
- Conduct research and compile information to support case preparation and attorney briefings
- Coordinate complex meeting logistics including agendas, materials, and follow-up on action items
- Manage billing processes including prebill review, approval workflows, and final bill delivery; serve as attorney proxy on billing matters
- Manage attorney calendars, resolve scheduling conflicts, and coordinate complex travel itineraries
- Ensure expense reports and time entries are submitted accurately and on time
Ideal Candidate
- Exercises sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive legal matters
- Strong communicator — clear and concise in writing and verbally, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and support staff at all levels
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills; able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with legal research tools, case management software, billing platforms, and standard production applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experienced with AI-powered tools for document production, review, and research
- Proficient in virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
- Adaptable and eager to learn as technology and practice needs evolve
Education & Experience
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of administrative experience supporting senior-level leadership in a corporate or legal environment
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay range: $49.45 – $65.52/hour (DOE); non-exempt, overtime eligible
- Hybrid schedule (in-office + remote)
