A progressive, patient-centered healthcare organization is seeking a Primary Care Physician with experience in transgender health and HIV care. This full-time, on-site role offers a unique opportunity to provide inclusive and comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, while working alongside an integrated care team focused on whole-person health.
Position Summary
The Primary Care Physician will deliver high-quality, culturally competent medical care with a specialized focus on transgender individuals and patients living with HIV. This position also contributes to training and team development while supporting collaborative care models.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
Conduct comprehensive physical exams and medical histories
Prescribe and manage treatments, medications, and vaccinations
Educate patients on preventive care, hygiene, nutrition, and chronic disease management
Provide referrals to specialists as needed and follow up on patient outcomes
Perform evaluations for employment, school, insurance, or surgery clearances
HIV Patient Care
Manage antiretroviral therapy and monitor disease progression
Coordinate care plans to address complications and promote treatment adherence
Offer counseling, education, and prevention strategies
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams for holistic management
Transgender Patient Care
Provide hormone therapy management, including initiation and ongoing monitoring
Support patients through transition-related healthcare, including surgical readiness assessments
Partner with behavioral health professionals to support mental wellness and identity exploration
Ensure care is sensitive, competent, and affirming of gender diversity
Clinical Administration & Team Support
Review and document patient records, medical histories, and diagnostic results
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in EHR systems
Stay informed about current clinical guidelines and organizational priorities
Support training and mentorship of medical staff
Collaborate with care teams to improve outcomes and promote patient satisfaction
Qualifications
MD or DO degree (required)
Active California medical license in good standing (required)
Valid DEA registration and current CPR certification (required)
WPATH training (required)
AAHIVS HIV Specialist certification (required)
Experience working with transgender and/or HIV-positive patients (strongly preferred)
Skills and Competencies
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills

Knowledge of gender-affirming care and HIV treatment standards
Ability to handle confidential health information ethically and professionally
Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
Physical Requirements

Compensation
Salary Range: $229,100 – $384,900 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
