Controller
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to join our finance leadership team. This high-impact role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will lead all aspects of accounting operations, including financial reporting, SEC compliance, SOX/internal controls, and equity administration.
This is a key leadership position with visibility across the organization. You will work cross-functionally with Legal, HR, R&D, and FP&A, and be instrumental in scaling our accounting infrastructure, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the company’s full-cycle accounting operations, monthly/quarterly close processes, and financial statement preparation
Own SEC reporting, including the preparation and filing of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and other required filings
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory standards
Oversee technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards
Manage and administer equity programs and stock-based compensation accounting
Partner cross-functionally with Legal, HR, R&D, and FP&A to ensure accurate reporting and alignment with strategic goals
Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of growth, transparency, and collaboration
Drive process improvements and implement scalable accounting systems and workflows
Support audit and tax processes, acting as the primary contact for external auditors
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or MBA a plus)
CPA required
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting
Deep understanding of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance
Experience working in a public company environment; life sciences or biotech industry background strongly preferred
Strong leadership style centered on collaboration, coaching, and team development
Proficiency with ERP systems and reporting tools (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva, etc.)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex accounting topics for non-financial stakeholders
