Total Rewards Consultant
We are seeking a highly skilled Total Rewards Consultant to join our team in San Diego. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in compensation strategy, program design, and Workday system expertise. The consultant will play a critical role in advising leadership, analyzing market trends, and ensuring our compensation and benefits programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with business goals.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation Strategy & Analysis
Design, implement, and manage competitive compensation programs including base pay, variable pay, and equity structures.
Conduct salary benchmarking, job leveling, and market analyses to support pay decisions.
Provide expertise on incentive plan design, merit cycles, and compensation review processes.
Partner with Finance and HR leaders to align compensation strategy with business priorities.
Workday System Expertise
Serve as a Workday subject matter expert (SME) for compensation and total rewards modules.
Configure, test, and optimize Workday functionality to support compensation planning, reporting, and compliance.
Partner with HRIS and IT teams to improve data accuracy, reporting, and system integration.
Leverage Workday analytics to provide actionable insights for leadership.
Benefits & Total Rewards Programs
Support the evaluation and administration of health, wellness, and retirement programs.
Provide insights and recommendations on trends in total rewards, employee engagement, and retention.
Contribute to the design of holistic reward strategies that support talent attraction and retention.
Ensure programs are competitive, inclusive, and aligned with organizational culture.
Consultation & Advisory
Advise HR Business Partners and leadership on compensation policies, pay equity, and regulatory compliance.
Develop clear communication materials to educate managers and employees about compensation and rewards programs.
Act as a trusted consultant to leaders navigating complex compensation and rewards decisions.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
10+ years of experience in compensation and total rewards roles.
Hands-on Workday experience with compensation/advanced compensation modules.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present actionable insights.
Knowledge of federal and California state wage & hour laws, pay equity regulations, and compliance standards.
Preferred:
CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or related HR certification.
Experience advising executives or high-growth organizations on compensation strategy.
Proven track record in designing equity or long-term incentive plans.
